La promenade du Paillon – Nice (Côte d’Azur, France)

[Italian below] Since I first visited Nice in 1993, many changes have occurred in the city landscape. One of the major urban renewals has concerned La promenade du Paillon; a three year project which turned into something amazing. Inaugurated on 26th October 2013, la promenade du Paillon is a 12-hectare public park located in the heart of Nice. It is a gorgeous area plenty of kids’ playgrounds, benches and a long stretch of lawn ideal for a rest on the grass and a picnic with friends. After 21 years of absence I visited Nice once again. It was summer and la promenade was the perfect place to relax and refresh after a long day spent walking in the crowded streets of the city. Fountains and misty clouds animated le miroir d’eau (mirror water), gathering a multitude of tourists. I could stay there for hours, looking at children dancing and playing with the fountains. Smiley, relaxed faces all around. Everyone seemed to have found their happiness in that park, and so I found mine.

[IT] Dalla mia prima visita a Nizza nel lontano 1993, la città ha decisamente cambiato volto. Tanti gli importanti cambiamenti paesaggistici che l’hanno coinvolta, uno tra i quali la costruzione de La promenade du Paillon; frutto di un progetto durato 3 anni, e che alla fine ha conquistato tutti, turisti e locali. Inaugurata il 26 ottobre 2013, la promenade é un parco pubblico situato nel cuore della città; un ottimo esempio di valorizzazione urbana, intelligente e funzionale. Dopo 21 anni di assenza ho rivisitato Nizza, e avuto modo di ammirarla in tutto il suo splendore. La promenade ha conquistato anche me. Lungo il viale, manti erbosi e panche in legno offrono un decoro ideale per una pausa relax. Uno specchio d’acqua si anima tra fontane e nuvole di vapore improvvise. Avrei potuto trascorrere ore ad osservare i bambini rincorrersi e danzare sotto i getti d’acqua. Visi sorridenti, rilassati; ognuno pareva aver trovato il proprio spazio, e nel mio piccolo, io il mio.
